Introducción: El dolor lumbar crónico (CLBP) es uno de los problemas más comunes por los que los pacientes visitan al osteópata. Debido a la influencia de la disfunción del diafragma sobre el inicio y/o mantenimiento del dolor lumbar, se justificó profundizar en esta relación mediante el presente estudio. El propósito de éste fue observar si el tratamiento del diafragma tendría un efecto positivo sobre el CLBP.Métodos: 20 individuos, 10 hombres y 10 mujeres, con edades comprendidas entre los 20 y 70 años, formaron parte del estudio, diagnosticados de dolor lumbar inespecífico con una evolución igual o superior a tres meses. Se dividieron en dos grupos, control e intervención. El estudio duró cuatro semanas, a 2 sesiones por semana. Para valorar la eficacia del procedimiento se emplearon el índice Oswestry y la escala EVA.
Resultados: Los dos grupos manifestaron un descenso en los valores finales del índice Oswestry y la escala EVA, pero mayor en el grupo experimental (Oswestry 3.60% frente a 2.40% y EVA 1.20 frente a 0.90).
Conclusiónes: El tratamiento exclusivo del diafragma tiene una incidencia positiva en el CLBP, pero sin diferencias significativas comparado con el tratamiento con un ultrasonido apagado. - Abstract

Introduction: chronic low back pain (CLBP) is one of the most common problems for which patients visit the osteopath. Due to the influence of diaphragm dysfunction on the initiation and / or maintenance of pain in the lumbar spine, it is justified to deepen this relationship through the present study. The purpose of this was to observe if the treatment on the diaphragm would have a positive effect on CLBP.
Method: 20 individuals, 10 men and 10 women, aged between 20 and 70 years, were part of the study, diagnosed with nonspecific lumbar pain with an evolution equal to or greater than three months. They were divided into two groups, control and intervention. The study continued for four weeks. To assess the effectiveness of the procedure, the Oswestry index and the EVA scale were used.
Results: Both groups showed a decrease in the final values of the Oswestry index and the EVA scale, but higher in the experimental group (Oswestry 3.60% vs. 2.40% and EVA 1.20 vs. 0.90).
Conclusion: The exclusive treatment of the diaphragm has a positive incidence in the CLBP, but without significant differences compared to the treatment with an off ultrasound. - presented at
