- Abstract
- The aim was to assess the osteopathic techniques applied to patients at the British School of Osteopathy (BSO) Children's Clinic to answer the research question 'Is the Treatment of children there mainly via the craniosacral mechanism?' The study involved a questionnaire filled out by an osteopath working in the BSO children's Clinic. It revealed :1 craniosacral techniques were used on more patients than the other techniques combined2 craniosacral techniques were used more frequently than other techniques combined.3 craniosacral techniques were used exclusively on more patients than the other techniques combinedCraniosacral techniques were used exclusively in 38.3% of treatments and therefore considered important in the clinic but they were not used in isolation in the majority of cases. The study explores the rationale for this but in conclusion recognises that the application of osteopathic manual techniques does not constitute osteopathic treatment.
