- Abstract
- Background: An isolated posterior cruciate ligament rupture can have far reaching short and long term functional implications. However, there is currently little clear evidence on which to base conservative treatment aimed at improving knee function. Objective: To provide a methodologically rigorous and objective analysis of the evidence on the short and long term prognosis of a conservative approach to rehabilitation of an isolated posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) injury; and make recommendations based on the best available evidence. Methods: Systematic computerised and hand literature searches for relevant up to date research and evaluation using methodological quality criteria. Results: Studies have shown that conservative treatment of an isolated PCL rupture
