This work intends to underline the agreement that would exist between two finalist testers of the Swiss Osteopathic School in Belmont/Lausanne during the execution of an observation test and a « palper rouler » on the zones of Dermalgia reflex described by Perronneaud-Ferré on back’s posterior region. For this, we took a population of 52 asymptomatic subjects including 35 women and 17 men between 19 and 41 years old.
Kappas' correlation coefficient and was used to evaluate reliability.
Prevalence of positiv zones following was of 8.5% for palpation and 3.88% for observation.
Reliability of palpation was not significantly different to chance alone exept for the kidney zone (K=0.39). For observations, significant correlations were observed for the kidney’s zone (K=0.56), the small intestine (K= 0.74), first head zone (K=0.65), 2nd head zone(K=0.49) and menstruation zone (K=0.37).
The studied population shows a low prevalence wich could influence results. Further studies are needed to justify the use of dermalgia reflex zones as a diagnosis tool. - presented at
